Week 4
What changes have you seen within yourself since being employed? Since first being employed I have noticed changes in myslef. Before I had a job, I kind of took money for granted. I would ask my mom to take me here and there, to get me this and that, not really thinking about where that money was coming from or how much of it there was. Then I got a job and quickly realized that the money my mom had always spent on me wasn't just some never-ending supply. Now I don't like to ask my parents for money for anything, and I don't spend my money on crap just because I feel like I want it. jobs are hard to come by, and I'm glad I have one to keep up my own expenses because no one else, not even my mom, should have to pay for me too.
Week 3
Discuss the best day you have had so far at your job. What made you enjoy your job more that day? The best day for me was yesterday, it was a monday night which ultimately means it was really slow at the Dairy Queen. For over half the night it was just me and my manager, we cleaned and stocked like we were supposed to, then we took the rest of our free time to eat icecream and joke around. Usually, it would be my manager, another employee, another manager, and myself working the night shift, and we don't get discounts or free anythign there. So it was a treat I guess to get free icecream and get to have chill time.
Week 2
After working at your job, do you feel differently about how you will spend your money in the future? Why or why not? After working for 6.55 an hour and having to pay for my food, car, and any other things I might need, I try hard to conserve what little money I have. Gas on a regular basis is about 50$-60$ every week, and buying food for lunch runs me about 20$ a week or less. So 80$ plus 125$ for my car insurance was taking over half my check when I only made 6.55. As a teenager, there are a lot of things I want to do which burns gas and money, I know I need to save so that I don't have to work 6 days a week to afford the things I now don't have time to do.
Week 1
Write about your feelings the first day of work. Were your expectations the same as your experience? Why or why not? My first day of work was kind of strange, I was all nervous and what not. I had expected Dairy Queen to be really laid back and fun, but it wasn't at all. My manager told me not to talk to anyone because she didn't like talking and the blizzard machine was kind of intimidating. I wasn't so sure I even wanted to work there anymore when she told me that I was only getting paid 6.55 and sent me home.
